A little help before you play
Player's handbookGetting started with ported2browser
01. Pick a project
Start with the demo collection if you want to try a port before preparing original assets. Open a game's detail page, read its requirements, then use Open project to visit the author's site. Some links open a repository with build instructions instead of a ready-to-play game.
02. Bring the right files
Some engines need files from a game you already own. Follow the named project's instructions for the exact archive, folder or version. This directory does not provide commercial game files. A free engine does not automatically include the original game's assets.
For example, the Half-Life guide links to WebXash's folder-loading instructions. The Diablo guide explains its separate shareware and full-game routes.
03. Get comfortable
Check the project's control menu before you start. A desktop gamepad feature does not guarantee support in its browser port. Our filters list documented controls; an empty control list means that support still needs verification.
04. Keep a backup
Save behavior depends on the project. Test saving and reopening before a long session. When the project offers an export function, keep a copy on your device. Clearing site storage or changing browser profiles may remove locally stored progress.
